Entry No. 7 — the Boston file — filed under: sculpture-park
deCordova Sculpture Park
Thirty acres on the shore of Flint's Pond hold more than 50 large-scale contemporary sculptures scattered through open lawns and woods, so you round a bend in the trees and suddenly find a room-sized artwork with no warning. It's New England's largest sculpture park of its kind, running continuously since 1950.
The move: Buy outdoor-park tickets (the indoor galleries are mid-renovation but the grounds are fully open), pack a blanket, and each pick out the piece you like least — then argue about it over coffee at the on-site café afterward.
