Hecate

Named for the Greek goddess of witchcraft, magic and crossroads, this intimate cocktail den sits below Krasi restaurant in Back Bay and lists its actual mailing address as "Public Alley 443" — no vanity street number, just the service alley behind the building. The European-inspired cocktail program leans on spice-market flavors, dim lighting, and an atmosphere of deliberate mystery.

The move: Arrive early (it fills fast and doesn't take reservations) for the alley-entrance den, work through a few of beverage director Lou Charbonneau's spice-market cocktails, then head upstairs to Krasi for Greek meze.

Where: Public Alley 443 (rear of 48 Gloucester St), Boston, MA 02115
