Wenham Museum (doll & model-train collection) — Quirky Museums & Collections in Boston

Entry No. 43 — the Boston file — filed under: antique dolls

Wenham Museum (doll & model-train collection)

Inside a 1655 colonial house-turned-museum on Boston's North Shore sits one of the country's largest antique doll collections — over 5,000 dolls spanning three centuries — alongside a Bennett E. Merry Train Gallery of ten operating model railroad dioramas, two hyper-specific obsessions sharing one small-town museum.

The move: Make a North Shore day of it: wander room after room of centuries-old dolls, watch the model trains run through their dioramas, then step next door into the 17th-century Claflin-Gerrish-Richards House the museum also keeps.

Where: 132 Main Street, Wenham, MA 01984
