Groundworks Art Lab
A nonprofit multi-craft art lab in Boulder (formerly Studio Arts Boulder) that runs Saturday-night, two-hour Date Night sessions across several disciplines under one roof. Beyond the clay wheel, the Metal night has couples actually forging at the bench to make a heart-shaped trivet or napkin rings, and the Glass night turns out fused suncatchers and hand-melted flameworked pieces. It's one of the few places near Boulder where you can pick your medium and finish in a single evening: metal, glass, and print pieces go home with you that night, while wheel-thrown clay gets glazed, fired, and mailed to you a few weeks later. Offerings rotate by season, so check which studios are running before you book.
The move: Book the Metal Date Night and forge a heart-shaped trivet together at the anvil, or pick the clay night and throw a bowl each on the wheel.
📍 Before you go Date Nights are Saturdays 7-9pm, 18+, roughly $60-70 per person; fired pieces ship to you in about four weeks. Different crafts meet at different campuses, so confirm which location.
