Tippet Rise Art Center — Roadside & Outdoor Oddities in Bozeman

Entry No. 19 — the Bozeman file — filed under: art-immersive

Tippet Rise Art Center

A 12,500-acre working sheep-and-cattle ranch in the Beartooth foothills where monumental sculptures are scattered across miles of hiking and biking trails. You can walk or bike to Mark di Suvero's massive steel works and Patrick Dougherty's woven-stick structures, with the open prairie and mountains as the gallery walls. Hiking and biking access is free but requires advance registration; van tours that ferry you between far-flung pieces run summer only and need advance tickets.

The move: Pack a picnic, register for a sculpture van tour, then bike the dirt roads between the di Suvero and Alicja Kwade installations at golden hour.

📍 Before you go Open June 19-Oct 4, 2026, Fri-Sun 8:30am-5pm. Hiking/biking free; sculpture van tours $10 (free under 21) and allocated by randomized ticket drawing, so plan well ahead. Roughly 110 miles from Bozeman.
