Entry No. 3 — the Charlotte file — filed under: haunted hotel
The Dunhill Hotel
Opened in 1929 as Mayfair Manor, this 10-story landmark witnessed multiple Great Depression suicides off its roof and made headlines in 1988 when workers uncovered a human skull buried at the bottom of an elevator shaft during renovations.
The move: Sip a Ghost Cider cocktail in the historic lobby bar while asking staff about 'Dusty,' the resident spirit, or reserve Room 906, notorious for unexplained cold spots and flickering lights.
