Three Dots and a Dash

Reached only through a discreet River North alley off Hubbard Street, this subterranean tiki temple is named for the Morse code for victory and ranks among the world's most awarded tropical bars. The rum program is one of the deepest in the city, and the kitschy island decor and low light make the basement feel a world away from the street above. Drinks like the Jet Pilot lean on absinthe and house-pressed juices and syrups.

The move: Hunt down the alley door off Hubbard and share a flaming shareable tiki bowl in the underground rum den.

📍 Before you go Entrance is the unmarked alley door off Hubbard, often marked by a roped line; reservations help on weekends.

Where: 435 N Clark St (alley entrance off W Hubbard St), Chicago, IL 60654
