Château Laroche (Loveland Castle)

Single-handedly built over 50 years by eccentric WWI veteran and medievalist Harry Andrews, this full-scale stone castle sits directly on the banks of the Little Miami River. Andrews constructed the complex using stones hauled from the riverbed and cement bricks hand-molded in quart milk cartons.

The move: Squeeze through the narrow stone passages, inspect global rocks embedded in the chapel walls, and sit at a hand-built terrace table overlooking the river.
