Entry No. 12 — the Columbus file — filed under: speakeasy
P.O. Box Twenty One
Hidden behind a secret door in the basement of High Bank Distillery, this speakeasy is styled to look exactly like a 1990s post office before you step through to find a cozy, dimly lit bar. The name pays ironic homage to the 21st Amendment in Westerville, which was once the 'Dry Capital of the World' and headquarters of the Anti-Saloon League.
The move: Enter through the narrow stairs off the back parking lot, walk past the fake post office shipping supplies, and cozy up in a booth to order a 'Corbin's Old Fashioned' while admiring the vintage postcards mailed in Ohio during the Prohibition era.
