This genuine one-room 1910 firehouse — credibly claimed to be the world's smallest museum — spent 24 years hidden as a hotel laundry shed before being sawn into six pieces and relocated across the street to its current spot between two buildings on 2nd Ave. Inside you'll find the original hand-pulled fire cart (named one of Colorado's Top Ten Artifacts in 2017), antique school desks, old post office boxes, and other hyper-local Niwot relics.
The move: Time your visit for Niwot's First Friday Art Walk or the 4th of July parade (when the Niwot Historical Society opens the museum for free guided tours), then spend an hour wandering the walkable Victorian-era downtown — grab coffee at the Left Hand Grange area, poke into the antique shops on 2nd Ave, and end with a meal at one of the old brick-building restaurants a block away.
📍 Before you go This is tiny — a one-room firehouse wedged between two storefronts on 2nd Ave, right beside the Left Hand Grange Hall, so it's easy to stride past; look low and between the buildings.
