Dome After Dark at Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden

On winter Friday evenings, the Botanical Garden's geodesic-dome conservatory stays open after hours with the tropical plants and Gardeners Show House dramatically illuminated. Strolling a glowing jungle under glass while it's freezing outside makes for a surreal seasonal escape. You can add a heated private igloo or a three-course dinner at the on-site Flora restaurant.

The move: Wander the warm, glowing tropical dome on a winter night, then retreat into a reserved private igloo with drinks while snow sits outside the glass.

📍 Before you go Winter-only (runs roughly January through late March; 2026 season has ended, 2027 dates announced in fall). Friday evenings 6-10 p.m.; adults around $12, igloo and Flora dinner add-ons extra.
