The Rathskeller at the Montana Club

The Rathskeller is a basement speakeasy-style bar beneath the Montana Club, a private gentlemen's club founded in 1885 and housed in a 1905 clubhouse designed by Cass Gilbert (architect of the U.S. Supreme Court). Its cocktail list revives recipes from Julian Anderson, the club's bartender from 1893 to 1953, reimagined with fresh ingredients. Reopened to the public in 2025 after about a year of renovations under new ownership, it now hosts live music, comedy nights, and a Friday-night Texas Hold'em poker room.

The move: Descend to the basement for Julian Anderson-era cocktails reborn, then stay for a comedy or live-music set.

📍 Before you go Open daily from 3pm (to 10pm Sun-Thu, 11pm Fri-Sat); the Teddy Twain Poker Room runs Fridays 8pm-2am with a $20 buy-in.
