Bear Canyon Mine

The Bear Canyon Mine is an abandoned gold mine located in the Soledad Canyon area near Santa Clarita. Dating back to the 1930s, the site features several horizontal adits carved directly into the canyon walls. While historically referred to as a placer mine, the remaining tunnels are hard-rock workings, some of which are heavily gated to prevent entry.

The move: Go for a scenic drive along Soledad Canyon Road to admire the rugged geological formations, then stop nearby to safely photograph the canyon landscape from public turnouts.

📍 Before you go The access road (Capra Road) is blocked by a guard shack on private property, and the abandoned mine tunnels themselves are structurally unsafe and gated.

Where: Capra Rd, Canyon Country, CA 91387, USA
