Milwaukee Fire Department Museum & Historical Society

Housed inside a preserved 1927 firehouse, this volunteer-run museum is a hyper-focused time capsule of Milwaukee's firefighting history. Exhibits feature a working 1910 fire alarm telegraph, hand-built 1920s MFD fire engines, a 1947 Cadillac ambulance, and a vintage 1920s station kitchen.

The move: Visit during a first-Sunday open house to examine a vintage cutaway fire hydrant, check out old MFD call boxes, and step into the original bunkroom and hose tower upstairs.
