Old Montana Prison Ghost Tours
The Old Montana Prison opened in 1871 and held inmates until 1979, and its stone cell house, gallows yard and Death Tower survive intact as a museum. On scheduled overnight ghost tours run by experienced investigators, small groups get locked in from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. and taken into areas closed to daytime visitors, including the upper cell tiers and the tower. Investigative equipment is provided; participants must be at least 15.
The move: Book a couples spot on a late-spring overnight investigation, then split the 90-minute drive home the next morning with breakfast in Deer Lodge while you compare what you each thought you heard in the cell house.
📍 Before you go Tours run on specific dates April-October (e.g. June 6 & 20, July 10, Aug 8 & 28); buy tickets per-event at pcmaf.org. Runs 8 p.m.-2 a.m., ages 15+, under-18s need a guardian.
