Jefferson Street Sound Museum

Founder Lorenzo Washington built a room-by-room archive of Jefferson Street's 1940s-70s R&B and soul scene — 'the original Music Row' — with stories of Jimi Hendrix and Etta James playing the strip before I-40 construction cut the neighborhood in half; current rotating exhibit is handkerchiefs over 100 years old.

The move: Book the Tuesday-Thursday by-appointment walkthrough (or drop in Saturday 11am-4pm) and let Washington himself narrate the strip's vanished club circuit before you become an official 'Jefferson Street Ambassador.'
