Bayou Paddlesports Night Paddle

Once a month Bayou Paddlesports runs a two-hour night paddle down Bayou St. John after the sun goes down, gliding past the historic homes and the lit-up Cabrini (Magnolia) Bridge with City Park on the far bank. It is billed as an evening under the stars with paddling, food and live music, and gear rental is available if you don't own a kayak. The launch has a dock, parking and clean restrooms right in Mid-City.

The move: Rent a double kayak and paddle the dark glassy bayou from 7 to 9 PM, drifting under the old bridge while live music carries across the water.
