Entry No. 7 — the New Orleans file — filed under: offbeat-museum
New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum
Open since 1972, this famously tiny museum occupies just a few dim rooms in a French Quarter house, jammed wall to wall with voodoo art and artifacts, altars, gris-gris and dolls. It leans into New Orleans voodoo history including the legacy of Marie Laveau rather than aiming for slick presentation. Its cramped, cluttered intimacy is much of the appeal.
The move: Squeeze through the few crowded rooms together, study the altars and offerings, and pick up a gris-gris bag on the way out as a souvenir of the date.
📍 Before you go It is small and admission is modest; expect a couple of crowded rooms rather than a large gallery.
