Astronomy Live at the Hayden Planetarium
Inside the Hayden Planetarium's domed Space Theater, Museum astrophysicists run Astronomy Live: live, interactive, hand-driven tours of the universe rather than a pre-recorded show. Using the planetarium's powerful digital projection, presenters fly the audience out to current sky objects, recent astronomical news, and the constantly changing night sky overhead. It is the closest thing to a private flight through the cosmos you can get on the Upper West Side, steered in real time by an actual astronomer.
The move: Catch an evening Astronomy Live session and let an astronomer fly the two of you out past the planets in real time under the dome.
