Dead Man's Hollow

This 450-acre nature preserve is reclaimed industrial land haunted by a dark history of tragic deaths, including a mysterious hanging in 1874, a fatal quarry explosion, and a deadly elevator accident. Hikers can explore the crumbling, vine-covered brick ruins of the Union Sewer Pipe factory that burned down in 1925.

The move: Hike the Witch Hazel Trail to discover the eerie, graffiti-covered concrete ruins of the pipe factory, and keep an eye out for the giant stone drainage tunnel that feels straight out of a gothic thriller.

Where: Scene Ridge Rd, McKeesport, PA 15133
