Bagby Hot Springs

A 1.5-mile hike through old-growth forest along the Clackamas River ends at a cluster of hand-hewn cedar log tubs, some split lengthwise and hollowed out like canoes, plumbed with wooden aqueducts that carry naturally hot mineral spring water straight into the tub — no pipes, no chlorine, cash-only nominal fee.

The move: Hike in together, claim one of the private hollowed-log tubs, and mix your own soak temperature by diverting the wooden flumes carrying hot spring water in and cold creek water alongside.
