The follow-up chapter to Davis's Shipwrecked Tiki Bar tells the story of the same fictional Captain Bad Luck Bob crashing on a reef — a massive carved anaconda coils over the circular bar, elephants and tigers loom out of the jungle dressing, and Venus flytraps sit among hollowed tree-trunk seating. The story

If you remember the original Shipwrecked Tiki Bar in Davis, consider this Midtown sequel the chapter where the narrative completely loses its mind. The central lore follows a fictional explorer named Captain Bad Luck Bob running his vessel aground on a reef, but instead of settling for standard thatched mats and plastic netting, the creators built a full theatrical jungle ruin right inside 16th Street.

The set dressing leans heavily into maximalist delirium. A massive carved anaconda winds its body directly over the circular central bar, while tigers and elephants loom out of dense artificial foliage. You sit inside hollowed tree-trunk booths flanked by oversized Venus flytraps, creating a fever-dream atmosphere that tiki obsessives frequently compare to an adults-only Rainforest Cafe—and intend it as high praise.

What keeps the place from collapsing into pure novelty is a bar program that takes tropical mixology seriously. Behind the animatronic beasts and overgrown ruins, they pour proper rum cocktails with real balance, backed up by a food menu featuring raw oysters to ground all that high-proof sugar.
