Entry No. 14 — the Salt Lake City file — filed under: basement-bar
Repeal
In the basement of the historic Walker Center — the same building's bank tower once anchored downtown finance — a jazz lounge has taken over the former Bourbon House space, run by the same team as nearby Prohibition; where its sister bar is 'the exhale, loud and celebratory,' Repeal is built as 'the inhale' — a small-plates-and-live-jazz room meant to be quiet, soulful counterpoint.
The move: Slip downstairs into the Walker Center on a night with a live jazz set, order small plates meant for sharing, and let the set list dictate how long you stay.
