Entry No. 39 — the San Diego file — filed under: miniatures
Miniature Engineering Craftsmanship Museum
A free museum built around one obsession — machines and engines shrunk to working scale — anchored by a 1/6-scale model of a 1932 Duesenberg SJ that took its builder over 20,000 hours to complete, plus 200+ tiny functional steam and internal-combustion engines.
The move: Visit on one of its three open days (Thu–Sat, 9am–4pm) to watch volunteer machinists working in the on-site 13,000-square-foot shop, then pick a favorite miniature engine to argue over on the drive back.
