Entry No. 38 — the San Francisco file — filed under: haunted
USS Hornet Museum
A decommissioned World War II aircraft carrier that recovered the Apollo 11 and 12 astronauts, now docked as a museum with a reputation among its own staff and volunteers for being haunted — the museum runs its own paranormal program line, including "Grey Ghost Encounters" private overnight investigations and "History Mystery" after-hours tours through the ship's steel corridors and hangar deck.
The move: Book the after-hours History Mystery tour, bring a flashlight (the museum makes a point of requiring one), and work your way down into the lower decks where the ship's own tour programs point visitors toward its most-reported haunted spots.
