A dive bar on Pacific Avenue that flips from daytime happy-hour spot ($4 well drinks, pints of Anchor Steam) into a two-room dance floor after dark, pulling 'a different crowd nearly every night' — goth rock one night, hip hop the next, '80s the night after — and stays open to 1:30–2am, 365 days a year.

The move: Show up after 9pm on a second Friday for The Cherry Pit, Santa Cruz's monthly drag-and-dance-party institution hosted by Cherry Cola and Franzia Rosé, then keep dancing under the same roof past 1am once the DJ takes over.
