Entry No. 40 — the Seattle file — filed under: hands-on
Fire Horse Forge
A Ballard bladesmithing studio where you go deeper than a one-session souvenir. Over a two-day workshop you make a 6-7 inch chef's knife from high-carbon steel, learning design, forging or stock removal, heat treating, grinding, handle selection, profiling and edge geometry. Classes are capped at four people, so it stays close, intense and genuinely instructional. You leave with a ready-to-use kitchen knife you made yourself.
The move: Spend a weekend forging matching chef's knives you'll actually cook with at home.
📍 Before you go Two-day commitment with only four spots per class; book well ahead.
