Manresa Castle
Built in 1892 by Port Townsend's first mayor, Charles Eisenbeis, this 30-room brick mansion later served as a Jesuit training college before becoming a hotel in 1968. Its enduring legends center on room 306, tied to a young woman said to have leapt from the window over a lost love, and room 302, linked to a monk's death. Guests report flickering lights, televisions turning on alone, and footsteps in the attic. The Victorian seaport setting makes it a striking overnight.
The move: Book a night in room 306 and walk the Victorian streets of Port Townsend before settling in to see whether the lights misbehave.
