Rock in a Cage
A genuine boulder encircled by a spike-topped metal fence on the Old Mill Museum grounds — discovered during 1980s pipeline work, originally misidentified as bearing Native American petroglyphs, and now caged (for free public viewing) with staff cheerfully insisting it's in "time out for being a little naughty." The adjacent 1898 Smoky Valley Roller Mills flour mill adds legitimate historic texture to the stop.
The move: Walk the riverfront Old Mill grounds to puzzle over the caged boulder and its actual 1800s settler carvings, then pay the $2 admission to tour the working 1898 flour mill next door — finish by exploring Lindsborg's Swedish-themed downtown (just two blocks away) for coffee and dala horse kitsch.
