Adventures by True North — Midnight Sun Knik River Paddle
This Wasilla-based outfitter runs an evening paddle timed to the summer solstice, when the sun never really sets and you float beneath a soft 'after-dark' glow that lasts till midnight. You launch by the Glenn Highway Knik River Bridge near Reflections Lake and ride the slow glacier-fed current down through woods and marsh under the Chugach Mountains, watching for moose, eagles, and bears. It is mellow enough for beginners and built specifically around Alaska's strange round-the-clock summer light.
The move: Push off in a tandem kayak in the late evening and drift the Knik downstream side by side as the midnight sun lingers low over the glaciers.
📍 Before you go Offered only in June around the summer solstice; from about $200/adult and reserve by 5 p.m. the day before. This is a midnight-sun (light-all-night) experience, the opposite of the aurora tours.
