Hatcher Pass Tours — Drive-Yourself Aurora UTV Run

Instead of riding in a van, couples climb into their own heated, enclosed UTV and follow a guide up into the dark zones of Hatcher Pass away from any town glow. Check-in is 10:00-10:30 p.m. and the run goes 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., putting you out during the hours aurora activity tends to peak. No off-road experience is needed since they train you first, and a private machine fits up to five.

The move: Share a heated UTV at 11 p.m. and follow your guide deep into Hatcher Pass to park under the dark sky and wait for the lights.

📍 Before you go $485 per UTV; book ahead at (907) 250-5419. Aurora is a dark-season experience, so the late-night run is meaningful roughly Aug-April, not around the summer solstice. Hatcher Pass is north of Anchorage past Wasilla.
