Boise WaterShed Public Art — Hands-On & Workshops in Boise

Entry No. 23 — the Boise file — filed under: outdoor

Boise WaterShed Public Art

The grounds of Boise's water-renewal education center hold Idaho's largest single concentration of public art, much of it kinetic and water-driven. Patrick Zentz's wind translator sculpture reacts to the elements, while Byron Folwell's 'Fluxion' cascades water through valves and perforated surfaces, and a footbridge with a metal railing cut to look like a stacked 'Beaver Dam' crosses the site. It is a strange, hands-on outdoor environment where the water infrastructure itself becomes sculpture.

The move: Stroll the outdoor sculpture grounds on a breezy day so the wind-driven pieces actually move, then poke through the free interior exhibits.
