Historic Tallman Homestead

Tucked away in the 'Forgotten Valley' of Golden Gate Canyon State Park, this historic homestead was established in 1876 by Swedish immigrant Anders Tallman. The site features the original main ranch house, a stable, and a chicken coop, all situated next to a scenic, trout-stocked pond. Visitors can hike to the preserved structures, which remained home to four generations of the Tallman family before being integrated into the state park.

The move: Hike the scenic 3-mile round-trip trail from the Bridge Creek Trailhead to Forgotten Valley, where you can enjoy a quiet picnic by the pond and admire the historic log structures from the front porch swing.
