Magic Fairy Candles Mercantile
Founded in 2004 when Kim Sorden began pouring candles at her kitchen table, this apothecary and metaphysical shop has since claimed a storefront on Longmont's Main Street and never looked back. The shelves hold handmade soy candles crafted with silken wax, cotton wicks, and organic essential oils — crystals charged under full moons, sage bundles, tarot decks, spell kits, ritual teas, and curated apothecary goods. After a refurbishment that added a tea bar and dedicated community space, the back of the shop now hosts restorative yoga, sound healings, drum circles, and tarot readings through the Longmont Magical Healing Group. Kim's philosophy: the love poured into the work is felt by the people who hold it. A cheerfully strange counterpoint to Longmont's farm-supply past.
The move: Browse the crystal and spell-kit shelves together, let the tea bar reset your rhythm, then catch an evening sound healing in the back room. Pick out a ritual tea blend or a moon-phase candle as a shared take-home object from the visit.
📍 Before you go Open Monday–Saturday 11am–7pm, Sunday 12pm–5pm (hours have varied; confirm before driving). The shop is about 20 miles north of Boulder on US-287, roughly a 30-minute drive. No reservations needed to browse; reservations required for classes.
