Open Light Energy opened on February 22, 2025 — with a ribbon-cutting at 2:22 PM — tucked into the downtown Boulder shopping corridor at 1719 15th Street, a block from the Pearl Street Mall. Founded by Melissa Dawne, a Reiki Master Teacher and Certified Crystal Practitioner who spent years managing other crystal shops before taking her own leap of faith, the boutique stocks ethically sourced crystals (including moldavite and rare stones), tarot and oracle decks, pendulums, candles, and incense. What sets it apart on a street dominated by outdoor gear is the invitation to drop in: walk-in donation-based tarot readings and Reiki chair sessions are available on the spot, no appointment needed. Dawne's background — she left decades in finance and IT to build this — gives the space an unusually grounded, unhurried quality.
