Entry No. 11 — the Bozeman file — filed under: oddities
Earth's Treasures Fossil & Mineral Museum Gallery
A half-block off Main Street, this 38-year-old rock-and-curiosity shop crams a kaleidoscope of crystals, raw minerals, and global fossils into a gallery space you can browse for free. Tucked among the geodes are framed iridescent beetles and butterflies, fossil fish slabs, and cases of loose Montana Yogo sapphires. It doubles as a prospecting outfitter, so you'll find gold pans and metal detectors next to the specimen drawers.
The move: Hunt the specimen drawers together for the strangest framed insect or fossil under twenty dollars and gift it to each other.
