Entry No. 35 — the Charlotte file — filed under: observatory
UNC Charlotte Observatory
Tucked away on the campus of UNC Charlotte, this outdoor observatory hosts free public 'Star Parties' where visitors can peer through high-powered telescopes at nebulae, planets, and distant galaxies.
The move: Bring a red-light app for your phone (to preserve night vision) and some warm layers, then cozy up together on the unpaved viewing grounds as student astronomers point out the rings of Saturn or the Orion Nebula.
