Fox River Trolley Museum

All-volunteer museum obsessed with one thing: antique electric streetcars. Its fleet of ~30 cars includes Chicago Aurora & Elgin car #20, built in 1902 and recognized as the oldest operating electric interurban car in the United States, running on a 1.9-mile line through a forest preserve.

The move: Ride the 1902 interurban trolley along the Fox River into Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve for a picnic, then walk the barns of retired streetcars before the last departure back.

Where: 365 S LaFox St, South Elgin, IL 60177
