Mudgy & Millie Bronze Moose Trail — Roadside & Outdoor Oddities in Coeur d'Alene

Entry No. 11 — the Coeur d'Alene file — filed under: roadside-oddity

Mudgy & Millie Bronze Moose Trail

Five life-size bronze statues of Mudgy the moose and Millie the mouse are scattered across downtown and the lakefront, marking spots from a local children's book where the bumbling moose searches for his hidden friend (who's tucked in his antlers all along). Sculptor and CdA native Terry Lee gave the moose a goofy, lovable bulk you can climb on. Following the 2 1/4-mile trail from Tubbs Hill to Independence Point turns a downtown stroll into a scavenger hunt.

The move: Pick up the free trail map and hunt down all five moose-and-mouse statues on a loop from Tubbs Hill to the lakefront.

Where: Tubbs Hill to Independence Point, downtown Coeur d'Alene, ID
