Chango Botanica
A cash-only Santeria botanica run by folk healer (curandero) Francisco 'Pancho' Diaz, who first opened in 1977. Packed with life-size saint figures, dressed candles, incense and herbs, it's a fixture of the 'Keep Oak Cliff Weird' lists, where believers come for limpias, cleansing rituals meant to align body, mind and spirit.
The move: Browse the wall of glass-encased saints and dressed candles together, pick out a limpia (spiritual cleansing) kit or candle for an intention, and bring cash since they don't take cards.
📍 Before you go Find it as a storefront on the W Davis Street commercial strip in North Oak Cliff (Kessler area), where you'll rely on free street parking out front. It's a small, packed shop, so daytime is easiest for browsing the shelves and reading labels. Treat it as a working spiritual space for practicing believers, not a museum: move respectfully, keep your voice down, and ask before photographing the saint figures, candles, or anyone inside. Bring cash, since cards aren't an option and there's no ATM in the shop. To round out the trip, head further east along the same W Davis corridor toward the denser Bishop Arts District for food, coffee, and shops.
