Giant Eye Sculpture (Joule Hotel)
A 30-foot hyperrealistic fiberglass eyeball by artist Tony Tasset stares out from a private courtyard at The Joule hotel downtown, modeled on the artist's own eye and visible from the street but genuinely unsettling up close.
The move: Walk up to the railing at dusk to take in the giant iris together, then debate whose eye it really is over a drink at the hotel's bar a few steps away.
📍 Before you go The eyeball sits on its own fenced lawn at 1601 Main Street, directly across the street from The Joule itself — you take it in through the black iron railing from the public sidewalk, which is open to anyone at any hour. The gate stays locked except for hotel guests and the occasional special event (it has opened for Dallas Art Fair weekends), so plan on holding your camera over the fence rather than walking the lawn. You're in the downtown Main Street District: garages and metered street parking are the move, and the hotel's bars and restaurants are a few steps across Main for a pairing.
