Entry No. 103 — the Denver file — filed under: warehouse
Creepatorium
A 4,000-sq-ft Baker warehouse the regulars call the Haus of Horrors, built by and for Denver's alt, horror, and queer crowd. Under one roof: a horror gift shop (HORRID), a horror-themed coffee bar (SCR3AM & SUGAR), a custom tattoo studio, and an event floor with a real salvaged European confessional, a mirror wall, and a fog machine. Programming runs to Sacrilegious Sunday, Horror Book Club, burlesque, vendor markets, and the monthly open-stage drag show Alchemize. No commercial pretense - it's a community space that happens to look like a Halloween fever dream year-round.
The move: Hit the first-Wednesday Alchemize drag open stage or a horror movie night, then loiter at the in-house horror coffee bar and browse HORRID's local oddity wares - low-stakes, high-character, and conversation writes itself.
📍 Before you go This is a Baker warehouse on S Acoma St, and the door isn't obvious from the street — the entrance sits in the alley behind the Brutal Poodle bar, and the two share a parking lot, so aim for that lot and walk around back. The four businesses (shop, coffee bar, tattoo studio, event floor) live under one roof, but the event floor only opens for scheduled shows and markets, while the coffee side runs more daytime hours — check the calendar before making a trip, since programming shifts month to month. It's an alt, horror, and queer community space, so come curious and respectful. Pair it with the antique stores and dive bars along nearby South Broadway, a short walk east.
