One River North (MAD Architects canyon floors)
A 16-story RiNo apartment tower with a literal canyon torn through its middle: floors 6 through 9 are split open to the sky, forming a planted, waterfall-fed slot-canyon void designed by Beijing's MAD Architects. You can stand at street level, hear the cascading water, and still not clock that there's open-air terrain carved through a glass high-rise above you. It's private (residential), so the play is the exterior reveal — the kind of thing you point at and watch someone's brain reorganize.
The move: Walk over at dusk, find the spot on the sidewalk where the canyon void lines up overhead and the water is audible, and let the 'wait, that's a hole in the building' moment land before heading to a RiNo bar nearby.
