Su Teatro Cultural and Performing Arts Center
The oldest theater company of any kind in Denver — founded in 1972 by CU-Denver students as a protest against a remedial-reading requirement — and the third-oldest Chicano theater company in the country. It now lives in the 1921 Cameron Movie Theater at 721 Santa Fe, a 320-seat main house plus a small studio and gallery. The work is Colorado-specific Chicano storytelling that almost no non-Latino Denverite has ever bothered to see, which is exactly why you should.
The move: Grab tickets to a mainstage show, then walk it off in the surrounding arts district. It's a real night out at a genuinely historic venue most locals couldn't point you to.
