Entry No. 64 — the Fort Collins file — filed under: after-dark
Stargazer Observatory (Observatory Village)
Tucked into the aptly named Observatory Village subdivision in southeast Fort Collins, this dome is an FRCC astronomy teaching lab — run with the neighborhood's Village Homes developer — that opens to the public on the third Saturday of the month, weather permitting. It is one of a couple of college-run observatories you can visit around Fort Collins, the other being FRCC's Sunlight Peak dome over on the Larimer Campus. Fittingly, it sits on Galileo Drive, in a subdivision whose streets carry astronomical names.
The move: Head to the little dome in Observatory Village on a third-Saturday open house and take turns at the eyepiece while a college instructor points out what's overhead.
📍 Before you go Public open house is generally the third Saturday of the month, weather-permitting; confirm the current schedule with FRCC before going.
