River Oaks Theatre — Rocky Horror Picture Show shadowcast

Houston's 1939 art-deco movie palace, saved from demolition and reopened in 2024 after a two-year closure, still runs its decades-old ritual: the Royal Mystic Order of CHAOS shadow-cast troupe acts out Rocky Horror in front of the screen at midnight, fog machines and strobes included.

The move: Buy 18+ tickets for the monthly midnight show, grab a prop bag, and watch the costumed shadowcast perform live under the screen while the 1975 print plays behind them inside the restored Art Deco house.
