Powell Observatory

Located in a dark-sky park south of the metro, this observatory houses the 30-inch Ruisinger telescope, one of the largest public-access telescopes in a five-state area.

The move: Drive out to Lewis-Young Park on a Saturday night between May and October, lay out a blanket in the grassy field, and wait your turn to peer at deep-space nebulae and galaxies millions of light-years away.
