After clearing the doorman, a hostess sends you through a dusty armoire that opens onto a balcony overlooking a bi-level recreation of old Havana, then down a spiral wrought-iron staircase into the bar. Velvet sofas, crystal chandeliers and live musicians on the overhead balcony set the scene, with burlesque dancers performing Thursday through Saturday and salsa breaking out on the floor. There is a separate covered outdoor cigar lounge with its own bar, and the rum list spans the globe.

The move: Pass through the secret armoire, claim a velvet sofa, and watch the balcony band and burlesque while comparing rums from around the world.
