Philosophical Research Society

Founded in 1934 by esotericist Manly P. Hall, author of The Secret Teachings of All Ages, this Mayan Revival campus designed by Robert Stacy-Judd is a designated Historic-Cultural Monument. Its research library holds tens of thousands of rare volumes on alchemy, Hermeticism, Rosicrucianism and ancient religion behind glass-fronted cabinets. The bookstore, Hansell Gallery and auditorium host seminars and concerts on mysticism and the humanities. The bookstore and gallery are open Tuesday-Friday afternoons, with the library open Thursdays and Fridays.

The move: Wander the rare-book library and gallery together, then stay for an evening lecture on mysticism in the auditorium.
