Entry No. 9 — the Louisville file — filed under: cemetery
Cave Hill Cemetery & Natural Cave Spring
Before becoming a 296-acre Victorian garden cemetery, this site served in the 1800s as the city's isolation 'Pest House' for patients suffering from contagious diseases. The grounds also contain a natural spring-fed limestone cave that feeds the cemetery lakes, set alongside unusual monuments to historic duelists and local figures.
The move: Pick up a map at the main gate to hunt down the natural cave spring entrance, the grave of magician Harry Collins, and historic Victorian monuments.
